2026 Registration Opens In
Welcome to Run this Town!
We put on a yearly (for now) trip to a new city where we’ll run together, meet other local runners, experience the city’s cuisine and culture, and give back to the people we meet.
We’ve got new events planned for CDMX 2026, check out last year’s itinerary below to get an idea of what to expect...
MILES FOR BREAKFAST,
TACOS FOR DINNER
What’s a week in CDMX look like?

Thursday
Early birds ran with Dromo from Bello Puerto at sunrise, while the rest rolled in throughout the day. We posted up at Casa Pancha, explored the neighborhood (Condesa, Roma Norte), wandered Chapultepec, and grabbed tacos from local favorites.
That evening, we met as a full group for a 6K social run with Midnight Runners, followed by dinner and drinks at Chinampita Condesa.

Friday
Two morning options: an 11K city / trail run with Dromo (starting from Solovino Café) or a chill 5K jog through Bosque de Chapultepec.
Late morning, we linked up with Club Tengo Hambre for a taco tour that took us deep into CDMX’s street food scene, starting at Palacio de Bellas Artes.
Dinner was casual — most of us were still full — but a few hit up spots like Ciena, Gaba, or Plonk to close out the night.

Saturday
Some got in an early morning shakeout in Chapultepec before our full-day excursion with Casa Pancha to the pyramids — a mix of running, history, and tacos outside the city. Shout out to Alejandro for being the best guide.
Back in CDMX, we showered, grabbed a quick bite, then watched the Lions playoff game over wings and beers at Criminal Wings Condesa.

Sunday
We started the morning running down Paseo de la Reforma, which closes to traffic on Sundays — letting us join hundreds of runners and cyclists cruising the empty streets.
Later, we split up: some explored markets, downtown, or the zoo, while others got tattoos from local artists Mariano and Erika in a cozy, light-filled studio. We laughed, danced, and hung out while friends got inked — one of the most memorable moments of the trip.
That evening, we came back together for dinner at Pizza Felix.

Monday
We woke up with the sun and took the cable buses up into the hills above the city, where we ran and hiked scenic trails all the way back down into CDMX.
Our route ended at Metta Running — maybe the coolest running store on the planet — where we sipped coffee, shopped gear, and grabbed a well-earned breakfast.
We wrapped the trip with a final group dinner at Fideo Gordo. Some called it an early night, others grabbed one last drink out in Roma Norte or Condesa. A perfect close to a wild, beautiful week.

Tuesday
For those of us who didn’t fly out before sunrise, we laced up one last time and joined the Metta Running crew for a final group run through the city. Then it was time to pack bags, say our goodbyes, and head home — legs tired, hearts full, already thinking about the next adventure.
BUT I HAVE QUESTIONS!
We figured. If we didn't answer your question below, shoot us an email at hello@runthistown.co!
Who is behind Run this Town?
We’re Billy Roberts and Alyssa McElheny - proud members of the Grand Rapids / Chicago running scene. We’re passionate about the community that running can create, travel, design, and good food. We can’t wait to get to know you/get to know you better!
Why Mexico City?
CDMX has everything. It’s easy to travel to. It’s January climate dry and sunny with usual high temperatures in the 70s. It’s got tons of green space to run through and a vibrant running scene. Its food scene is incredibly vibrant and oftentimes inexpensive (think a whole plate of street tacos for lunch for $1.00). The culture and the people are so vibrant and friendly. There’s so much to see and do - from dormant volcanoes to centuries old churches to endless old historic colorful neighborhoods to stroll through. What more could you want?
Can I bring a friend? Can I come along if I don’t know anyone else going?
Of COURSE! Bring your cousin who also loves to run but lives in Denver. Don’t know anyone else on the trip? Come make new friends - we’d love to have you.
Do I have to do everything with the group?
NO. Most everything we’ll do will be optional. If you want to spend an afternoon exploring solo or an evening getting dinner without the group you are more than welcome to make your own edits to our itinerary.
Do I have to run? Can I walk?
You can run slow or fast or far or short, or you can walk!
Will there be a deposit required?
Yes! We will take a $300 deposit at the time of booking to pay for the residence where we’ll be staying.
When do I need to sign up by?
The deadline for signup/deposit is July 31st! Signups will be first come first serve. If you’re sure you want to join us, feel free to sign up today!
I love Mexico City! I have some suggestions of places to run/eat/etc. Any interest in my input?
Please! We’d love to hear them.
I can’t take quite this much time off of work. Can I come for just a few days?
Totally. Come when you can! Or feel free to work from the residence or a coffee shop as need be.
Do you have any experience with Mexico City/travel abroad?
Definitely. Both Billy and Alyssa have traveled extensively abroad and have led groups on trips. This is our second trip to CDMX. Alyssa is also fluent in Spanish. We’ll also be consulting with local tour guides to ensure the best possible experience for all.
What am I in charge of booking before the trip?
Just your own flights - we’ve got the rest.
How much could I expect to spend on flights? Lodging? Food?
You can usually expect to spend between $350 and $500 on airfare when you book in advance. Lodging we’re hoping to keep at less than $80 per person, per night. Food can be incredibly affordable - especially if you go the street food route. You can easily do this trip for ~$1500 or less.
Where will we be staying?
We’re returning once again to Casa Pancha, an absolutely beautiful boutique hostel located in Condesa close to restaurants, a massive park, and more!
Any other exciting items you can tell us about?
You can look forward to a custom welcome bag full of local goods for you to enjoy/take home! We're in the process of putting together merch. And you'll have a ton of really sweet travel/running photos while on the trip.
Say Less. I'm In.
